Report reveals the 10 fastest players in the world
.....................................................................
Speed is everything in the modern game.
Just ask any defender.
They can prepare for pretty much anything ahead of a match. They can watch videos of players and know exactly what runs they will make. But if their opponent is simply quicker than them, they might not be able to stop them.
Having incredible pace can help players play at a higher level than they probably would have otherwise.
Look at Adama Traore. If he didn’t have the speed of Usain Bolt, would he be the most feared winger in the Premier League? Of course not.
Without having a 100 metre race, it’s hard to declare the ‘fastest player in the world.’
However, French publication Le Figaro have done all the hard work and revealed the top 10 fastest players in the world football.
Let’s take a look:
10 | Nacho Fernandez - 34.62 km/h
The 30-year-old has been at Real Madrid his whole career but has only made nine appearances this season. The defender is showing no signs of slowing down though.
9 | Alvaro Odriozola - 34.99 km/h
The right-back is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid but has only played once for the Bundesliga giants since his move in January. The 24-year-old Spaniard had made five appearances for Real Madrid this season before the move.
8 | Kingsley Coman - 35 km/h
If you’re a winger, it helps to be pacy - and Kingsley Coman certainly is. The Frenchman has bagged five goals for Bayern Munich this season.
7 | Mohamed Salah - 35 km/h
Mohamed Salah’s incredible pace has seen him score a quite ridiculous 91 goals in 144 matches since signing for Liverpool in 2017.
6 | Leroy Sane - 35.04 km/h
Leroy Sane has missed the entire campaign after suffering a serious knee injury in the Community Shield against Liverpool. Before that, the German gave defenders nightmares with his speed. Let’s hope he’s back up and running when football returns.
5 | Kyle Walker - 35.21 km/h
Sane’s teammate Kyle Walker is the Premier League’s second quickest player. He may have been criticised for some of his defensive displays lately but his frightening pace gets him up and down the right wing.
4 | Karim Bellarabi - 35.27 km/h
The 30-year-old Bayer Leverkusen winger can reach a crazy 35.27km/h and is a regular for the German side.
3 | Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 35.5 km/h
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the Premier League’s fastest player despite the Gabon international turning 31 this summer. His pace has helped him score 61 goals in 97 appearances for Arsenal as the Gunners desperately try to keep the striker.
2 | Inaki Williams - 35.7km/h
The Athletic Bilbao forward is rapid. He’s proved he’s more than just goals in recent years and has even attracted the attention of Manchester United.
1 | Kylian Mbappe - 36 km/h
You won’t be surprised to discover that Kylian Mbappe is the fastest footballer in the world. The PSG superstar is pretty good with the ball at his feet too! But to throw shade on his incredible 36 km/h, the fastest man in the world - Bolt - reached 44.72 km/h when running his world record 9.58-second 100m in 2009 - although he did average 37.58 km/h.
